Alice Roeber, 97, of Wayne, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 at Brookdale - Wayne.
Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Wakefield. The Rev. William Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne with family present.
Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Alice Roeber was born Jan. 13, 1920 on a farm northeast of Wayne in Dixon County to Herbert and Lena (Reuter) Hinnerichs. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Wakefield. She attended rural school, Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School and Hahn High School in Wayne. She cared for her mother before her marriage. Alice married Arnold Roeber on March 29, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple farmed five miles northwest of Wakefield for 35 years. In 1983, they moved to Wayne. Alice was a life-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid for over 50 years. She enjoyed her family and keeping a nice home.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Robert) Thunberg of Gilbert, Ariz.; granddaughter, Carly Thunberg of Gilbert, Ariz.; one sister, Bonnie Schrieber of Wayne; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold, in 2009; brother, Gilbert Hinnerichs; two sisters, Betty Lessmann and Bernita Sherbahn.
Pallbearers will be Merle Roeber, Bruce Roeber, Dallas Hinnerichs, Brian Lessmann, Brendt Lessmann and Lynn Lessmann.
