Allen Longe, 76, of Newmarket, N.H., died unexpectedly at his home Saturday, May 16, 2020.

Allen Longe was born Aug. 12, 1943 in Wayne, the son of Henry Edmund and Ida (Echtenkamp) Longe. He married Linda R. Stone on Aug. 18, 1968 in Lincoln. Allen received his BS degree in History at Wayne State College in Wayne. He received a Master’s of Science Degree in History at the University of Nebraska in Omaha and did a year of doctoral work at Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich.
He loved teaching and was a well-respected history teacher at the high school level for 36 years and was a winner of a Teacher of the Year award. He was also an adjunct professor for Syracuse University and State University of New York at Oneonta. In his retirement, he started a handyman business that helped local senior citizens.
Al was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hike, ski, run, play tennis and kayak. He most loved doing these things with his family. He was a beloved husband and revered father.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Linda; his two daughters, Jennifer (Brad) Heers of Plymouth, Mich., and Heather Longe of Durham, N.H.; four grandchildren, Brevin, Justus, Ava and Trevor; his sister, Karen Broberg, and brother, Kendall (Betty) Longe; numerous sisters and brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rogene Vetter.
