Bernita Sherbahn, 98, of Wayne, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 at Careage Campus of Care in Wayne.
Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. The Rev. Michael Feldmann and the Rev. Carl Lilienkamp will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the Sherbahn family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Bernita Doris Sherbahn was born April 14, 1918 on a farm in Dixon County to Herbert and Lena (Reuter) Hinnerichs. She was baptized May 5, 1918 and confirmed March 20, 1932 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Wakefield. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School. Bernita married Donald Sherbahn on Jan. 16, 1941 in Omaha. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne where she was a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and American Legion Auxiliary. Bernita enjoyed bowling and china painting. She enjoyed her family and doing things with them.
Survivors include her two daughters, Nancy (David) Warnemunde of Winside and Donna (Dennis) Johnson of Plainview; four grandchildren, Jeff (Cathy) Warnemunde, Julie (Tom) Bergstrom, Scott (Candi) Johnson, and Wendy (Chad) Toelle; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Roeber and Bonnie Schrieber of Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 2005; sister, Betty Lessmann; sister-in-law, Bernadine West, brother, Gilbert Hinnerichs; and one granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Jason Warnemunde, Lynn Lessmann, Mark Warnemunde, Brian Lessmann, Brendt Lessmann, Tom Bergstrom, Scott Johnson and Jeff Warnemunde.
