Daniel E. 'Dan' Bruggeman
Daniel E. “Dan” Bruggeman, 66, Hoskins, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins. The Rev. Rodney Rixe will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect View Cemetery in Pierce. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 at Home for Funerals in Norfolk.

Daniel Eugene “Dan” Bruggeman was born July 28, 1951 to Gerald and Ruth (Christiansen) Bruggeman in Norfolk. He grew up in the Hoskins area and graduated from Winside High School in 1969. On April 8, 1972 Dan married Gerry L. Otto at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk. This union was blessed with two sons, Jeremy and Jeff. Following high school graduation, Dan was a truck driver, starting out with livestock trucks and then driving for Bruggeman Oil. Later on, he drove trucks for Lindsay Transportation and eventually became a dispatcher for them until he retired in 2004. Dan then worked part-time for LBJ Trucking until he retired for good in 2010.
Dan was baptized Aug. 19, 1951 and confirmed May 9, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins. He served on the school board at Trinity Lutheran School while his sons attended school, and later on served as a Treasurer for the church. His hobbies included golfing, cards, playing pool, watching Husker sports and Royals baseball. Also, he enjoyed playing softball and served as an umpire for many softball and baseball games. Telling stories, cracking jokes, and making conversation was something he cherished throughout his life.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth, of Norfolk, sons, Jeremy (Chris) Bruggeman of Stanton and Jeff (Becky) Bruggeman of Lincoln; grandchildren Devin, Mason, Sofiya, Grant, Brooklyn and Sawyer; siblings, Larry (Janet) Bruggeman of Hoskins, Lynne (Jerry) Allemann of Wayne, Terry (Marliese) Bruggeman of Sioux Falls, S.D., Karen Thor of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Keith Bruggeman of Gilbert, Ariz.; brothers-in-law, William “Bill” Borgmann and Paul (Brenda) Otto; sisters-in-law, Kim (Roger) Stowell and Kelly (Darcy) Gansebom, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gerry; father, Gerald, and sister, Diane Borgmann.
