Dennis Beckman, 71, of Wayne, died Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at a Sioux City, Iowa hospital.
Due to current health concerns and for everyone's safety, private family services will be held. A larger celebration of life memorial will be held in late summer or early fall of 2020 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the Beckman family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Born March 16, 1949 in Wakefield, he was the son of James Russel and Helen (Gathje) Beckman. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1967. He married Cindy Hansen on March 10, 1979 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Holstein, Iowa. Dennis and Cindy bought their home in Wayne and have resided there since 1981 and have also been members of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Dennis was a fuel tank driver for multiple businesses in and around the Wayne area and community. He became a fuel tank driver at 20 years old and retired from Fredrickson Oil in Wayne in 2016. Dennis was an avid Nebraska Huskers fan and enjoyed watching football in the man cave that he built with his brother, David. He enjoyed camping and spending time with family during the summers and fall. His hobbies were working on old cars, working with his model train, yard work, canning in the fall, and family card games during the winter.
Survivors include his spouse, Cindy Beckman of Wayne; children, Nick (Katrina) Beckman of Carroll and Jamie Beckman (Robin Lough) of Tucson, Ariz.; his siblings, Ellen (Dennis) Carlson of Wakefield, Sharon (Dan) Gustafson of Wakefield, Karen (Mel) Pagels of Golden, Colo., LaVon Anderson of Wakefield, and David Beckman of Wayne; in-laws Carol Quigley of Omaha, Rod (Gayle) Hansen of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Pam (Bob) Corbin of Lompoc, Calif., and Candi (Dennis) Schlines of Wynot; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Russel and Helen Beckman; his brother, Duane Beckman; brother-in-law, Tom Anderson, father and mother-in-law, Rodney and Wilma Hansen and brother-in-law, Jim Quigley.
