Dottie Wacker, 90, of Wayne, died Thursday, April 12, 2018 at her home at Brookdale-Wayne.
Services will be held Saturday, April 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Winside. The Rev. Dustin Petz will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, April 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne with family present. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery at Winside.
Memorials may be directed to the Winside High School Scholarship Fund.

Dottie Jean Wacker was born May 13, 1927 near Laurel to Oakley and Elsie (Zechins) Reed. She attended rural schools in Cedar and Wayne counties and graduated from Winside High School in 1944. She attended Wayne State College that summer, then taught four years in rural schools in Wayne County. Dottie married Donald Wacker at her parents' home near Winside on April 4, 1948. They farmed for four years until moving into Winside where they owned and operated the International Harvester Implement Store. Later they owned and operated the International Harvester Implement store in Wayne. Dottie was the bookkeeper at both stores. In 1996, they built a home and moved to Wayne where Dottie was active in the church, country club and doing Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing cards. Dottie became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wayne. She was a past member of the Ladies Aid in Winside for 43 years.
Survivors include her children, Reed (Melissa) Wacker of Askov, Minn., Diane (Dennis) Lowe of Willow River, Minn. and Jerry Wacker of Kildeer, N.D.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jason (Ollie) Reed of Norman, Okla.; two sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 2001; son, Robert; grandson, Michael; and brother, Gene Reed.
Pallbearers will be members of Dottie’s family.
