Harvey E. Brader, 85, of Wayne, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 at Careage Campus of Care in Wayne.
Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. The Rev. Michael Buchhorn will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne with family present. Burial with military rites will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Harvey’s family requests memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.

Harvey Emil Brader was born Oct. 29, 1933, on a farm in Wayne County to Emil and Viola (Haines) Brader. He attended elementary school at District #28 North and graduated from Wayne High School in 1952. Harvey served in the United States Army in the rank of Special Technical Sargent from August of 1955, in Alaska, until his honorable discharge in August of 1957. Following his military service he returned to the family farm and continued farming until his retirement. He married Esther (Temme) Ekberg on Dec. 8, 1989 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. The couple farmed northwest of Wayne until moving into Wayne in November of 2016. Harvey was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Duo Club, and Lutheran Layman’s League. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards, and attending his nephew, Scott’s bike races.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; brother-in-law, Roger Ackerman of Omaha; step-sons, Dennis (Pam) Ekberg of Wayne and Alan (Joanne) Ekberg of Osmond; step-daughters, Connie (Roger) Stelling of Plainview and Sandra (Don) Holtgrew of Atkinson; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Frederick (Joann) Temme of Wayne, and Roland (Hiroko) Temme of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Alma Temme of Norfolk, Glady Juhlin of Battle Creek, Caroline Caauwe of Lincoln, Wilma (Willard) Bartels of Wakefield, and Judy Temme of Columbus; cousins; niece, Darla Ackerman of Omaha; nephews, Doug Ackerman and Scott Ackerman both of Omaha; great-nieces, Violett and Angel; and great-nephew, Xavier of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leon Brader; sister, Bernice Ackerman; step-great-granddaughter, Claire Nilson; sisters-in-law, Dorothea Grosse and Marcella Temme; brothers-in-law, Harvey Grosse, Russell Juhlin, Donald Caauwe, Richard Temme and Victor Temme.
Pallbearers will be Brent Stelling, Scott Holtgrew, Eric Ekberg, Bradly Ekberg, Scott Ackerman and Chad Sebade.
