Leota Swanson, 93, of Wayne, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.
Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. The Rev. Kyle Nelson and Chaplain Rosalind Woods will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne with family present.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Wayne.

Leota Mary Swanson was born March 20, 1924 on a farm near Winside to Lewis and Hannah (Pritchard) Johnson. She attended school at District #83 near Winside. Leota married Clair Swanson Jan. 1, 1945 at the United Methodist Church in Carroll. The couple farmed south of Carroll for 22 years, until they established Swanson Oil Company in Carroll. They sold the business and moved to Wayne in 1970. Leota was employed at Kuhn’s Department Store and then worked at Wayne State College as a custodian from 1974-1986. After retirement, Leota worked in the Pac-N-Save deli where she helped with deli product demos. Leota was a past member of the Carroll United Methodist Church and currently the First United Methodist Church in Wayne. She enjoyed playing cards, baking, cooking, and bingo.
Survivors include her daughter, Mavis (Gary) Munson of Norfolk; grandchildren, Gina Munson and Michael (Rebecca) Munson; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clair in 2011.
Pallbearers will be Michael Munson, Greg Vander Weil, Bob Ensz, Dennis Junck, Daryl Fields and Gary Poutre.
