Marcella (Mrs. George) Koester, 85, of Wisner, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Wisner Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wisner with Fr. Vincent Sunguti celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 5 from 3 to 6 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 6 p.m. and will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service, all at the church.

Marcella Mae (Adams) Koester was born May 26, 1933 near Wisner to Leonard and Ricky (Zipf) Adams. She attended Cuming Co. Rural School District #34, beginning at the age of four, and later graduated from Wisner High School in 1950. Marcella received her Normal Training and taught at Cuming County Rural School District #79. On Feb. 20, 1952 she was married to George Koester at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner by Fr. Rose. The couple lived and farmed southwest of Wisner. She later worked as a para professional at Cuming Co. Rural School District #34 and Stanton Co. Rural School District #14. Marcella also babysat in her home for her grandchildren and other neighborhood children and later worked for Jackie Horst at her daycare in Wisner. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Ladies Guild. She enjoyed baking, creating plastic canvas projects and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, George Koester of Wisner; a daughter, Linda and Larry Hansen of Wisner; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dean Adams of Wisner.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Doug Koester.
