Marilyn M. Schwartz, 77, of Pierce, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Norfolk
Services were held Monday, Oct. 2, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. The Rev. Gordon Bruce and Vicar Jesse Baker officiated with burial in Green Garden Cemetery in rural Madison.
Arrangements were with Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce.
Marilyn M. Schwartz, the daughter of Arnold and Hilda (Brummels) Warneke, was born Sept. 3, 1940 in rural Pierce. She was baptized on Sept. 15, 1940 and confirmed March 29, 1953, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pierce. She attended rural School District 80 for two years and St. John’s Parochial School to the eighth grade before graduating from Pierce High School in 1957. After graduation, Marilyn worked at the Madison County Welfare office, Cones State Bank in Pierce, Delay First National Bank in Norfolk and Midwest Bank in Pierce. Marilyn retired in 2005 as head teller from Midwest Bank in Pierce. On June 20, 1970 she married Ervin Schwartz at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce, where she tallied offerings for the church and volunteered with the ladies aid. Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, reading and sports.
Survivors include her children, Marcia (Troy) Pospisil of Norfolk and Arnold Schwartz of North Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Mardell Schwartz of Madison; and a brother, Richard “Dick” Warneke of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Hilda Warneke; her spouse, Ervin Schwartz; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and one niece.
