Mildred Weak, 83 of Wayne, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.
Services will be held Friday, Sept. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. The Rev. Jeanne Madsen and Deb Hammer, PMA will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church with family present. Burial will be in the Hasting Cemetery in Hastings, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Wayne Senior Center.
Mildred Lucille Weak was born Oct. 16, 1935 in Wayne, to Adolph and Regina (Kurrelmeyer) Korn. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1953 and attended Wayne State College. She worked as a telephone operator for a few years in Wayne. Mildred married Lyle Weak on Sept. 22, 1957 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. The couple lived in Malvern, Iowa for a time before living in David City for many years. She moved to Wayne in 2001 to be near her family. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Wayne Senior Center.
Survivors include her children, Pamela (Charles) Vander Woude of Brookings, S.D., Roger (Lisa) Weak of Hastings, Iowa and Peggy (Mike) Grosz of Wayne; seven grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Gail) Korn of Wayne; brother-in-law, Donald (Ruth) Weak of Glenwood, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle in 1997; brothers, Harold (Edna) Korn and Melvin (Margaret) Korn; sisters, Esther (Harold) Gathje, Norma (Edward) Thies and Rosalie (Ivan) Diedrichsen.
Pallbearers will be Tim Vander Woude, Christy Vander Woude, Matt Vander Woude, Courtney Steelman, Ryan Grosz, Brianna Weak, Holly Grosz and John Steelman.
