Mona Faye Meyer
Mona Faye Meyer, 87, of Wayne, died Friday, March 9, 2018 at her home at Broookdale - Wayne.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with family present. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the Meyer family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne.
Mona Faye Meyer was born July 27, 1931 near Martinsburg, to Elmer and Ella (Bass) Kingston. She graduated from Wayne Prep in 1948 and attended Wayne State College. She began working as a teacher in rural Dixon County. Mona married Wayne Milligan in Wayne on Nov. 22, 1950. She worked as a bookkeeper for Merchant Oil. Mona married Robert Meyer on June 12, 1964 at Grace Lutheran Church. She was a farmwife, a secretary at Farm Bureau, operated a Day Care in her home and later the administrator of Villa Wayne. The couple farmed in Wayne County until moving into Wayne in 1986. Mona was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Saturday School, Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. She was an avid quilt maker for each of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed genealogy for the Kingston, Bass, Milligan, and Meyer families.
Survivors include children, Cynthia Kahane of Missoula, Mont., Joan Meyer of Lincoln, Richard (Cindy) Milligan of Lincoln, John Meyer of Wayne, Renee (Jim) Martocchio of Mt. Prospect, Ill. and Randy Milligan of Wayne; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Kingston of Niantic, Conn.; sisters Joyce (Gib) Splitgerber of Plainview and Gale Flesner of Aurora, Colo.; and brother-in-law, David (Judy) Meyer of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Milligan, in 1961, husband, Robert B. Meyer, in 2017; daughters, Grace and Faith Meyer; brother, Lyle Kingston; sister, Shirley Fletcher; and great-granddaughter, Logan Margarite Meyer in 2018.
