Nila Schuttler, 78, of Bancroft and Wayne, died Sunday, March 17, 2019 at her home in Bancroft.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Wakefield. The Rev. William Bertrand will officiate. Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, March 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne with family present. Burial will be at a later date at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wakefield.
Memorials may be directed to the Schuttler family for later designation.

Nila June Schuttler was born June 11, 1940 at Bloomfield to Zachary Taylor and Caroline (Berner) Mefford. She was the ninth of twelve children born to Zachary Taylor and Caroline Mefford. She was born and raised in Bloomfield. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She graduated from Bloomfield High School and attended one year of college at Norfolk Junior College in Norfolk. She met her future husband, Marlin, while cruising the streets of Osmond. Nila married Marlin Schuttler Jan. 22, 1959 at Yankton, S.D. Together they were blessed with four children, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was employed as a Dietary Manager. Nila was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Wakefield, Secretary/Treasurer of LWML, and Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, reading, crossword puzzles, and crocheting. Family was extremely important to her, attending many family reunions. She enjoyed attending as many of her grandchildren's events as possible. She loved cooking, especially for the numerous family gatherings. Some of her specialties were her Chex mix, deviled eggs, and her famous potato salad (which was said to be the best this side of the Mississippi and usually came by the ice cream bucketful).
Survivors include her husband, Marlin; sons, Keith (Shelley) Schuttler of Cecil, Wisc., Mark (Janelle) Schuttler of Omaha, and John (Carri) Schuttler of Bancroft; daughter, Elizabeth (Doug) Carlson of Wakefield; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Ferdy (Ruth Ann) Mefford of Missouri Valley, Iowa and Jack (Donna) Mefford of Brunswick, Ga.; sisters, Judy Skrivan of Bloomfield and Linda (Dennis) Huttmann of Shelby, Iowa; and sisters-in-law, Althea (Jim) Gilbertson of Culver, Ore., Jan Durant of South Sioux City, and Kathy (Al) Hamilton of Lincoln; brother-in-law Dwaine Schuttler of Ralston; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Pete, Jerry, and Don; sisters, Lois, Dorothy, Marvel and Vivian.
Honorary pallbearers will be Renee Schuttler, Maggie Wurm, Logan Carlson, Ethan Schuttler, Grant Schuttler, Jared Schuttler, Delaney Schuttler, Kennedy Schuttler and Max Schuttler.
