Ruby Hammer, 87, of Creighton, formerly of Wayne, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at Avera Creighton Care Centre in Creighton.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. Pastor Jeanne Madsen will officiate, with burial at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton is in charge of arrangements.
Ruby C. Hammer, daughter of John and Adele Claussen, was born Jan. 3, 1932 at Wausa. On Sept. 18, 1949 Ruby married Dale Hammer in Bloomfield. They were blessed with four children, Linda, Gary, Richard, and Paula. Ruby was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Marcus) Wagner of Fort Wayne, Ind. Gary (Jean) Hammer of Creighton, Rick (Debra) Hammer of Surprise, Ariz. and Paula (Monte) Pfeiffer of Winside; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Kathy) Claussen and Douglas (Karen) Claussen all of Wausa and Paul (Karen) Claussen of Norfolk; and two sisters, Velda (James) Long and Dianne (Eldon) Flemming all of Norfolk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Hammer; five brothers, John, Melvin, Martin, Detlef, and Harvey; two sisters, Marian Huttman and Shirley Poppe; and one grandchild, Joel Pfeiffer.
