Samuel A. Malone

    Samuel A. Malone, 41, of Lincoln, died Monday, April 17, 2017 after a courageous battle with melanoma.
    Visitation will be held Thursday, April 20 from 5-7 .pm., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 So. 14th Street in Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 21 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1800 So. 84th Street in Lincoln. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.

    Samuel A. Malone was born Jan. 8, 1976 in Winfield, Kan. to Steve and Joy (Bertrand) Malone. He graduated from Allen High School in 1994. He married Marcia Hansen on Aug. 31, 1996. To this union four children were born.  He joined the Army and after four years he transitioned to the Nebraska Army National Guard. His 20 years of service as a Logistics NCO included multiple units, most recently the 209th RTI. He received numerous awards for exemplary service. His passion for his career was evident to anyone he worked with. His proudest moment of his career was competing for the supply excellence award. He was so proud of his children and loved watching their activities, helping whenever he could. He was actively involved with the Cub and Boy Scouts with his sons Alex and Owen, serving as a Den & Pack leader for Pack #22.  He was actively involved in Troop #22 as an assistant Cub Master & Committee Chair. Sam loved to go hunting, fishing, camping and participated in other outdoor activities with his family and friends. He enjoyed helping as a youth hunting guide. He was an avid Thunderbird car enthusiast and was always looking for one more “go fast” part. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Huskers.
    Survivors include his wife Marcia; sons Alex and Owen and daughters Kaitlyn and Emma, all of Lincoln; his parents, Steve and Joy Malone of Woodstock, Ga.; sisters Sarah (TJ) Fuller of Portland, Ore. and Abi Malone of Woodstock, Ga.; his grandmother, Dorothy Malone of Winfield, Kan.; father-in-law, Kenneth Hansen of Allen; brothers-in-law, Lee (Dawn) Hansen, David (Valerie) Hansen, Brian (Candice) Hansen; Sisters-in-law, Lisa (Doug) Thompson, Deanna (Chris) Bennett, Barbara (Scott) Pigg and Kristin (Luke) Dixon; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
    He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Roy Bertrand and Joe Malone; grandmother, Dorothy Bertrand; mother-in-law, Mary Hansen and nephew, Jacob Bennett.
    Arrangements are with Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln.
