AREA BASKETBALL – Wayne, LCC girls get wins
Tuesday’s area basketball highlights are as follows:
Wayne 67, Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 33 – The Wayne girls used a 22-7 third quarter to help them pull away for the easy win over LV/S-S. Kylie Hammer tossed in a career-high 28 points and had nine rebounds and five steals in the win. Gabi Meyer scored seven points and Kelsey Boyer added six. Allison Echtenkamp had nine rebounds for the 2-1 Blue Devils, who host Wahoo on Friday.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 55, Homer 41 – The Lady Bears evened their record at 1-1 with a solid second-half effort to pull away from the Lady Knights. Emily Hangman led three Lady Bears in double figures with 16 points, while Bethany Kardell and Lorna Maxon each added 13. Katie Leapley had a double-double defensively with 12 rebounds and 12 blocked shots. LCC hosts Emerson-Hubbard on Friday.
Omaha Nation 65, Allen 36 – The Lady Eagles fell to 0-3 on the season with a home loss to the Chiefs. Madisen Schneiders scored 19 points to pace Allen, while Bethany Kneifl added seven. Allen hosts Ewing on Thursday.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 68, Wayne 61 – A 28-point fourth quarter wasn’t enough as the Blue Devils dropped their first game of the season. The visitors led by 19 going into the final period and held off a Wayne comeback in the final period. Payten Gamble led three Blue Devils in double figures with 20 points, Grayson McBride added 19 and Jack Evetovich put in 12. The 2-1 Blue Devils play host to Wahoo on Friday.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 77, Homer 27 – The Bears earned their second win of the season Tuesday with an easy road win at Homer. The 2-0 LCC boys will be home Friday to face Emerson-Hubbard.
