AREA WRESTLING -- Wayne wins Winside Invite title

Here are Saturday’s area wrestling results:

Wayne takes Winside Invite honors — Wayne claimed the team title at Saturday’s Winside Invitational, scoring 128.5 points to finish 15.5 points ahead of runner-up Hartington Cedar Catholic. All 10 Blue Devils placed, with four claiming individual titles. Firsts went to Reece Jaqua (120), Cameron Muhs (126), Juan Vergara (132), and Hunter Jorgensen (220). Earning runner-up finishes were Brandon Wacker (132), Victor Kniesche (138), and Berto Vergara (160). Isaac Cliff was third at 145, while fourth went to Lance Muhs (113) and Mike Leatherdale (220). Winside finished fourth as a team and had one champion in Koby Ellis at 113 pounds. Seconds went to Carter Jensen (120) and Michael Jensen (182), and Jon Escalante (220) and Matthew Frederick (126) placed third. LCC was 11th and Ethan Williams led the way with a runner-up finish at 285 pounds.

Wakefield ties for fifth at Wisner-Pilger — Wakefield had three medalists and tied for fifth place at the Wisner-Pilger Invitational. Charlie Lopez was the Trojans’ lone champion, earning a 6-4 decision over Clayton Harvey of Ralston to take top honors at 126 pounds. Julio Sanchez finished second at 220 pounds, while Ben Chase claimed consolation honors at 138 pounds.
