Blue Devils face Wahoo in first round of state volleyball tourney

The Wayne High volleyball team will be the No. 8 seed for the Class C-1 division of the Nebraska State Volleyball Championships that begin Thursday in Lincoln.

The 25-9 Blue Devils have drawn the top seed, Wahoo, which comes into the tournament with a 32-2 record. The two teams will play the final game of the day in the C-1 bracket, meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Lincoln North Star High School.

The winner of Thursday’s first-round matchup will face either Bishop Neumann or Grand Island Central Catholic at 3 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The finals are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Devaney Center, with the consolation game set for 9 a.m. at Lincoln Northeast.

Thursday at Lincoln North Star High School
1:30 p.m.:
No. 3 St. Paul (33-1) vs. No. 6 Syracuse (26-3)

3:30 p.m.: No. 2 Lincoln Lutheran (32-3) vs. No. 7 Columbus Scotus (19-9)

5:30 p.m.: No. 4 Bishop Neumann (29-3) vs. No. 5 Grand Island CC (30-4)

7:30 p.m.: No. 8 Wayne (25-9) vs. No. 1 Wahoo (32-2)

Friday at Pinnacle Bank Arena (South Court)

1 p.m.:
St. Paul/Syracuse winner vs. Lincoln Lutheran/Columbus Scotus winner

3 p.m.: Bishop Beumann/Grand Island CC winner vs. Wayne/Wahoo winner
