Dendinger nabs ninth straight Athlete of the Week honor
For the ninth consecutive week dating back to last season, Wayne State senior thrower Michaela Dendinger is the Northern Sun Conference Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
It is her third straight time this season to receive the honor following her performance in last Thursday’s UNK Invite in Kearney, where she won the discus with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 175 feet, placed first in the shot put (49-10) and second in the hammer throw (201-10).
Dendinger already has the best throw in NCAA Div. II in the hammer throw at 205-10, is second in the shot put (51-11 1/4) and fourth in the discus (175-0), all of which are NCAA qualifying marks.
Wayne State competes in the Doane Invitational this weekend in Crete.
