Kniesche earns MaxPreps national award
Wayne High sophomore pitcher Tori Kniesche earned a national honor today as she was named MaxPreps/National Fastpitch Coaches Association National High School Player of the Week.
Kniesche was honored based on last week’s 5-0 effort that included four shutouts with a pair of no-hitters and two one-hitters. She struck out 69 batters in 30 innings of work with no-hitters against Tekamah-Herman on Thursday and David City/East Butler on Saturday. She also threw a one-hitter at home against Columbus Lakeview and and had 18 strikeouts in a 2-0 win over Plattsmouth in the finals of the Mercy Invitational.
In addition, Kniesche has been swinging a hot bat with seven hits, including two doubles, and three RBI’s.
For the season, Kniesche is 16-2 with 196 strikeouts in 94 innings pitched. She has a 1.26 earned run average and is limiting opposing hitters to a .103 batting average.
