Wayne wrestlers medal six, finish sixth at Lakeview
The Wayne High wrestlers competed in their first tournament of the year Friday, placing sixth out of 10 teams in the Columbus Lakeview Invitational.
Wayne came home with six medals, led by a winning effort from Cameron Muhs at 120 pounds. He wrestled in round-robin action with only four wrestlers in the bracket and won all three of his matches, finishing it off with a first-period pin over Colby Gilson of Columbus Scotus.
Mikey Reyes (220) and Hunter Jorgensen (285) both earned third-place medals for the Blue Devils, while Juan Vergara (132) and Isaiah Muhs (170) finished fourth. Harley Wheeler was sixth at 160 pounds.
Wayne hosts Norfolk Catholic in a dual on Thursday and competes in the West Point-Beemer Invitational on Saturday.
