WSC's Frauendorfer earns All-American honors
Wayne State senior middle hitter Alyssa Frauendorfer was named to the 35th annual American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Team, receiving Honorable Mention honors.
It marked the fourth time in her career that Frauendorfer collected AVCA All-American honors after being named third-team All-American last year to go with honorable mention honors as a freshman and sophomore.
Frauendorfer led the Wildcats in kills per set (3.01) and attack percentage (.345) while also averaging 0.75 blocks per set this season. She was named first-team All-NSIC for a fourth straight season, joining Rayna Nelsen Cain (1999-2002) as the only other Wildcat player to be a four-time All NSIC selection. Frauendorfer was named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 31 after posting a career-high 30 kills in a 3-2 win at Bemidji State. She finished her Wildcat career ninth on the all-time kills list at WSC with 1,411.
During her four years at Wayne State, Frauendorfer helped the Wildcats reach three NCAA Tournaments while winning one region title. She is the only player to achieve All-American status all four years at Wayne State.
