Verna E. Brogren-Miller
Verna E. Brogren-Miller, 93, of Wayne, formerly of Hoskins, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at Brookdale Wayne in Wayne.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins. The Rev. Rodney Rixe will officiate with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk.

Born Oct. 6, 1923, in rural Hoskins, Verna was the daughter of Paul and Esther (Eckert) Deck. She grew up in rural Hoskins and was baptized on Oct. 28, 1923 and confirmed on May 16, 1937, both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins. She attended School District 11 in rural Hoskins and then graduated from Stanton High School in 1940. After graduation, Verna was a school teacher from 1941 to 1945, teaching in District 11. She married William Brogren on Dec. 9, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins. She worked for Sherwood Medical in Norfolk as a machine operator from 1966 until retiring in 1988. William passed away in April 1988. She married Wilfred Miller on June 13, 1991 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins. He passed away in June 2004. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins, Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aide, Scattered Neighbors Club and Ladies Club. Verna enjoyed her crafts, crocheting, flower gardens and traveling.
Survivors include sons Elroy Brogren of Hoskins, Neil and Ann Brogren of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ardyth Molacek of Howells.
She was preceded in death by both spouses, William Brogren and Wilfred Miller; her parents, Paul and Esther; and a sister, Darlene Smith.
Pallbearers will be Skip Deck, Don Molacek, Darvin Smith, Kendall Siedschlag, Scott Brogren and Ryan Brogren.
